Third World Man

Description

Infinity. The year is 2021, and these are the adventures of the siblings Amadeus, Rocky and Electra. In search of ever new musical worlds, they set out on this journey.

Well, a bit thick. But the beginning really sounds like the Starship Enterprise. In this respect it fits.

I would have liked to take part in the Myownmusic participation action Storyteller 2021. But I had no ideas and lacked the creative inspiration. But I love to tell musical stories. Then I heard Roland's song "Embla". And it came as it had to come. My youngest heard the beginnings and motivated me to continue.

The first part until 3:26 belongs to Amadeus. Full of joie de vivre. He loves to express elegiac feelings. Powerful alternates with melancholic. One can certainly hear that Amadeus is the oldest of the three. Quite self-confident of his role as firstborn. But still very much pressed into strict forms. But also with Amadeus one notices that he slowly detaches himself from his parents' house.

Until 7:00 Rocky is allowed to let off steam. I admit it, my personal favorite. Wild changes of emotions express themselves through ever new musical turns and time signatures. My Hohner Clavinet D6 is also allowed to participate vigorously. This gave us both a lot of pleasure. During the ritardando at the end, I had doubts whether I would not disturb my wife, because it was already late and I had overdone it with the volume. Later, she revealed to me that she was on the verge of smacking me. After more than 25 years of marriage, you can smell the roast. And I turned down the volume.
Yes, yes, the sandwich children. With the first child, everything is still new. The firstborns have to fight for their own space. The middle child is allowed to let off steam. Rocky has clearly shown this musically.

Finally, Electra, the nestling, is allowed to show what she can do. However, my computer is slowly reaching its limits. So I improvise with existing hardware. The change from Rocky to Electra is confusing at first. But the young lady doesn't make it easy for her brothers either. The sound is certainly not beautiful (Reaktor 6). I am sure one or the other will not like the passage. When my youngest son heard the passage, he grimaced. I like it, very much in fact. Sounds downright rebellious. So does Electra's personality. But Electra also has mystical sides to her, which she is also allowed to live out musically here.

The musical history of Amadeus, Rocky and Electra stands for my musical thinking. I have always liked different styles. The confinement in genre was never so mine. Maybe my "story" to the Storyteller is not quite what Roland imagined. I hope he doesn't hold that against me. But it is my very personal musical story. And you can be glad that I didn't let my cousins Franky, Soul and Jezebel have their musical say.

Last but not least, the title "Third World Man". The Third World comprises a group of about 130 developing countries and includes about 76 percent of the world's population. The generic term "Third World" implies that the developing countries have certain things in common, although these countries are very different from each other. Voilà like the (my) music.

I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had when I recorded it.
